How well I remember the impact of that Vietnam War EXECUTION
PHOTO. Was it not simply a WAR CRIME to execute on the spot a helpless
prisoner of war - even if the man himself was a war criminal. Did not
the government of Israel give even Adolf Eichmann a fair trial ?
THE EXECUTIONER - Nguyen Ngoc Loan -died in this country at age
67. Eddie Adams' shocking photo won a Pulitzer Prize for The Associated
Press. Perhaps Adams regrets its influence on the anti-war movement, a
movement that owes no apologies to the nation.
" The guy ( Gen. Loan ) was hero", Adams says today. " America should
be crying ".
America is still crying over the national tragedy that was the
Vietnam War. But we should cry for Gen. Loan ? Rubbish !
