In an August 1 , 2019 article one Martin Armstrong asks " Are the Democrats self-destructing ? " :
" The Democrats have a serious risk of self-destructing as a party and could split between the insane socialists and the more center liberals. The 2020 election will be critical for them and 2021 will be a Panic Cycle for the Democrats. "
Apart from self-education hardly anybody in " God's Country "- where President Donald Trump has banished " socialism " FOREVER - can get an unwarped view of socialism as an IDEA - a good and bright idea that like ATOMISM goes back to the ancient Greeks . In his " Republic " the philosopher Plato espoused a definite form of " communist " socialism " - oddly enough, abolishing PRIVATE PROPERTY mostly for the ruling elite .
Today any form of " democratic socialism " must question the moral legitimacy of even " illegitimate wealth " .
However pristine socialism is hardly embraced by these " progressive " Democrats nor by most sectarian Marxist parties today.
Every registered socialist " vanguard party " contains the seeds of totalitarianism. Led by some megalomaniac permanent GREAT LEADER , the members of these political cult organizations invariably remind me of those " Clears " in the daffy Church of Scientology.
And too many militant socialists in this 21st century seem to be also militant atheists hostile to Christianity , to Catholicism in particular, to all people of FAITH in general. How can any mass movement alienate so many of the world's RELIGIOUS masses? And succeed . What kind of Orwellian EQUALITY will this " socialism " bring about ?
Nowhere do I find the wise Plato saying that his " Republic " should be " officially atheist" as was the Soviet Era Russia after 1917.
" Socialism " based on the principles of the New Testament - on moral principles not on a dismal foundation of eternal matter- in- motion- might succeed where fanatic eternal class struggle and spiritually arid dialectical materialism has failed for more than a century.
And Rome, the Eternal City , might indeed become Saint Augustine's " City of God ".
