Here in next door Rhode Island the surprise Democratic primary victory of Ayanna Pressley was a hot topic on local talk radio. But this Kate Randall article gets it right :
" Despite Ocasio-Cortez’s claims that Pressley represents a historic change, her victory has traded in a conventional liberal politician for a younger, equally conventional one, whose main difference is skin color "
A real American socialist would be very condemning of the American Gulag, the American prison system but Pressley was reported to be mainly concerned with black males in prison.
Malcolm X was also a black male in prison. He read a lot in prison and began to understand the roots of social injustice . By 1965 Malcolm X was making contact with white radicals and in his final speeches was making a connection between racism and capitalism, a connection between racism and American imperialism.
In a letter to his wife ( circa 1953 ) Martin Luther King said he was moving toward some form of socialism . Capitalism, King thought, was clearly failing .
But how muddled are the black petty bourgeoisie today with their endless racialism . No principles must interfere with social climbing . Their ballyhooed " success " does nothing for the black working class.
Endlessly unmasking " racism " in individuals , then proceeding to ruin them , to destroy their careers - mostly for something SAID - does not promote racial harmony in America.
Getting ahead by ruining other people is what bourgeois " identity politics " is all about. It is every bit as nasty as Donald Trump nasty. In America the Social Register " Nice People " are getting very nasty as their political system crumbles.
