Would ANY priest -sinner or saint - with any common sense nowadays be caught in such a compromising situation - in the bedroom of young girl ? Would parents with any common sense permit it - even for " homework " help ?
The Catholic Church should not wallow in collective guilt over a tiny minority of perverts among the clergy. But it also must not continue to be obtuse to what the famous psychiatrist Sigmund Freud wrote about irrepressible human sexuality whatever form it takes.
A priest with a true vocation should also have the gift of chastity or just the gift of sublimation of the sexual instinct - a real source of spiritual " energy ". It was precisely the UNMARRIED male clergy that gave the Catholic Church its earthly power . Married women tend to be nest builders -and would have been an obstacle to COLLECTIVE wealth and power. Better for the pious priests to be attached to the heavenly LADY than to lose their souls trying to please the earth earthy lady of the house.
The Catholic Church can " survive " by returning to the wisdom of St. Augustine who wrote " The City of God " and Thomas Aquinas who wrote " The Summa ". Vatican II did it no favors - and made many a faithless libertine or hedonist- too mentally lazy to learn Latin - into " another Christ ". While Satan laughed !
