Socialist " propaganda " must respect the religious instincts of humanity

I also hope the culture of debate is maintained within the Trotskyist movement. Interesting :
[ "Our view, which we have found confirmed by long practice, is that the correct tactics in propaganda are not to entice away a few individuals and memberships here and there from one's opponent, but to work on the great mass, which is as yet uninvolved " ]

No socialist organization or political party-whatever its revolutionary merits- will ever have " vanguard " status until the " great mass " recognizes it. Until then they are ALL in danger of degenerating into squabbling sects -each anathematizing the others.

The oppressed and exploited working class know the truth about their own lives . They expect " socialists " to know it too - not to seem like condescending saviors from remote Academia.
I like what George Orwell said : " Socialism should be obvious ". I don't yet see any socialist group as being particularly good at " propaganda ".

I suspect that too many " educated " socialists are so prejudiced against the religious instincts of humanity - seeming allies of the obnoxious New Atheists - that they are clueless about understanding the soul of " the great mass ".

Perhaps the greatest mistake of the old Soviet Union was to call itself officially ATHEIST . That was a turn off to the heart and soul of the working people everywhere .

Socialists must build bridges to the millions of people who still identify with the great religions of humanity. It might help to believe that there is some TRANSCENDENT meaning to human life . Let the SCIENCE nerds glow euphoric over the " God Particle ", eternal matter in motion , and " what hydrogen atoms can do after billions of years of cosmic evolution " ( Carl Sagan , as much as I liked him ) . .
