Outrageous Rhode Island traffic fines punish poor FAMILIES !

 

Letters: Eric Weis: Glad to see that cameras have drivers paying attention
               

BIG BROTHER " surveillance state " ubiquitous cameras do not serve the purpose of protecting citizens. It is a basic axiom of the police state that REASON and PUBLIC OPINION cannot influence the individual's social behavior as much as crude state authoritarian " punishment ". And the fines for traffic violations are hardly FAIR . Poor FAMILIES are punished far more severely than comfortable middle class families. The bourgeois LAW in all its wisdom refuses to recognize economic inequality. 

           Shame on the city and state officials - loyal ONLY to their ruling class masters - even the most " liberal " Democrats. And shame on the Providence Journal for not give us common people much of a voice.
