Although he was a scientific skeptic the British socialist H.G. Wells had some very positive thoughts on the man Jesus in his chapter on the rise of Christianity in " The Outline of History ".
For Wells Jesus was an amazing social revolutionary in very dangerous times in Roman occupied Palestine. Jesus denounced obscene wealth and PRIVATE PROPERTY . Naturally HIS kingdom was not of this world !
Wells also credits Christianity with preserving the cultural heritage of Greece and Rome , the very foundation for the revival of art, science, literature, and technology in the late Middle Age. Still the REAL Jesus haunts organized Christianity today .
