I recall Isaac Asimov explaining very clearly that he took an HISTORICAL perspective on any given science topic he is writing about . I think that is why so many of his popular science writing is still interesting and stimulating reading. In general ,popular science writing immediately after a great discovery or invention never sounds jaded and ho-hum. For example , reading about “THE ATOM” right after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
