But even by the legal tradition of the bourgeois court should not any American judge " represent " THE CONSTITUTION not his or her race or ethnic group ?

[ "Among my many blessings — and indeed, the very first — is the fact that I was born in this great country. The United States of America is the greatest beacon of hope and democracy the world has ever known. "]
A good way to sanctify war fever with Wilsonian blather about OUR glorious democracy ! Coming from a Supreme Court nominee ! It takes a high level of intelligence but also a high degree of FALSE CONSCIOUSNESS to land on the Supreme Court whatever your race or ethnic background. FALSE people never end up by expanding " OUR democracy " or making the world a better place. They are always pillars of the THE SYSTEM , or just the STATUS QUO . Our most brilliant legal minds will not apply their genius to critical thinking about the economic system of capitalism , about the military industrial complex in the United States. About the CLASS nature of the prison system , the American Gulag . About an insufferable ONE PERCENT plutocracy. Indeed for them any vision of SOCIALISM will always be ANATHEMA and downright ILLEGAL ! The stuffy POWER ELITE with whom they wine and dine and socialize will forever admire that upper class attitude. The Ivy League , Harvard , Yale , Princeton, Brown will name buildings after them. They will even get a private audience with Oprah and the Pope !
But even by the legal tradition of the bourgeois court should not any American judge " represent " THE CONSTITUTION not his or her race or ethnic group ?
Speaking as a democratic socialist I must ask this question with a touch of humor : Is not our privileged WASP population entitled to such representation ? They too very much LOOK LIKE America ! Is THE LAW so plastic that each IDENTITY group will interpret it differently ? The SOCIALIST view of THE LAW is that , in the final analysis , it reflects RULING CLASS interests.
