American public schools fail to teach critical thinking schools

An excellent observant article. Yesterday was celebrated here Veterans Day ( November 11 ) . For me, a baby boomer opponent of the Vietnam War , there is good patriotism and toxic patriotism . I too concluded decades ago that the American public school system fails completely to teach even the brighter students CRITICAL THINKING skills. 

They are defenseless against war mongering propaganda: the USA is always in every war " God's Country " defending FREEDOM , defending TRUTH , JUSTICE, and THE AMERICAN WAY, against armed scoundrels everywhere ( so anybody anywhere in the world with a chip on his shoulder for " Uncle Sam " should LOOK UP routinely for menacing drone missiles ) .

 These ignorant students can be easily recruited for sociopath political agenda -on the Left and on the Right. I am particularly disturbed by failure of the Left to defend the FREE SPEECH , FREE THOUGHT tradition of Western Civilization. A young female city counsel person in Providence , Rhode Island recently on local radio defended the vandalism of a Christopher Columbus statue on a main street .

 What else is this but incipient FASCISM ON THE LEFT ? NOTE : a telling title of an article I read a while back : " Why Teachers Don't Read " by a public school teacher.
