I agree completely with Neil de Grasse Tyson on the news media giving equal time to nonsense. Human caused climate change is a scientific fact-not a theory. These same people who demand FREE SPEECH on this issue don't need it because they can buy newspapers, radio and TV stations. They are the corrupt voice of the energy industry. Our Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, in a recent letter- to- editor of the Providence Journal, likened scientists who spread skepticism about global warming to those professional quacks hired by Big Tobacco in 60s when smoking was definitely linked to cancer:" Nope nothing wrong here ! "..... " Take a puff and it's springtime again ".
But I also find fault with Mr. Tyson as the ubiquitous VOICE OF SCIENCE. He is getting to be a little too full of himself. I was shocked by his New Atheist toned mockery of the Catholic Church's doctrine of the Holy Eucharist. He said that Catholics must be dumber than Scientologists to believe this.
He lacks the social conscience of Isaac Asimov and Carl Sagan. He never attacks the root of the problem of disastrous climate change: unregulated global capitalism.
He has adapted his rather buffoonish personality to our consumerist culture. Could he be the Brian Williams of NASA ?
