The CLASSIC reason for blackballing ANY scientist goes
back to the McCarthy era. Carl Sagan was clearly far to the left of
today's pack of graying , pro-capitalist, conformist, establishment
scientists. In his " Demon Haunted World " Sagan shows a glowing
affection for the assassinated Leon Trotsky-and even said he smuggled a
copy of Trotsky's " History of the Russian Revolution " into the then
imploding Soviet Union. He clearly perceived that " dialectic
materialism " was superior to the occult nonsense now popular in Czar
Putin's New Russia. Also, Carl had no scientific doubts about global
warming.
