As a life long democratic socialist I am certain that the homeless problem in Rhode Island will be happily solved by some two bit OPPORTUNIST politicians camping out in front of the State House at night . In no way will this BOY SCOUT -GIRL SCOUT ADVENTURE help people or even herself to understand the endless terror of the chronically homeless. They do not have MIDDLE CLASS COMFORT to retreat to when they become too miserable.
The ONLY solution to the homeless problem here in Rhode Island- or anywhere else in capitalist America - is ending the absolute PRIVATE PROPERTY rights of the landlord class.

[ It was dark and cold when state Sen. Cynthia Mendes and friends began setting up tents at the entrance to the State House on Tuesday evening and told Capitol Police officers they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon.]
Mendes, who is running for lieutenant governor in a partnership with gubernatorial candidate Matt Brown, says she will stay until "we are sure that the homelessness crisis has been resolved and no one would freeze to death this winter."
That could be a while.
