Tara, it might occur to you that " houseless " does not have the emotional connotation of " homeless " ?
" A homeless pet " ; " home sweet home " ; " there's no place like home " ; " You Can't Go Home Again " .
As for the source of new terms consult George Orwell's " 1984 " and Big Brother's " Ministry of Truth ".
