You would think that the COVID-19 pandemic is the greatest threat to the human race since the Great Plague , the Black Death , in the 14th century -when there was no medical science.
Governments around the world are using this real if melodramatic health crisis to to create " 1984 " BIG BROTHER tyrannies . Everywhere the official public VOICES of SCIENCE sound like late night Kevin Trudeau TV infomercials . The old Stalinist Soviet Union also imagined it had the support of godless SCIENCE . Yes, SCIENCE under a tyranny can soon degenerate into ignorant and fatal superstition .
British philosopher Bertrand Russell did warn that tyranny might succeed and endure forever if they , in fact , were scientific . But the original SPIRIT of SCIENCE is always hostile to tyranny . It breathes FREE SPEECH and FREE THOUGHT .
