I read that nasty little book by Christopher Hitchens : " God Is not Great ... how religion poisons everything ". I suspect this brilliant but erratic writer had a dark epiphany after the 9/11/2001 Islamic terrorist attack on the United States. This ex-Trotskyist suddenly sees belief in GOD as the root of all evil.
But then it seems more like Satanic inspiration that he should then turn traitor to the ideal of socialist internationalism and support US imperialism in the invasion and occupation of Iraq - a crime against humanity. The leftist writer Gore Vidal then disowned Christopher Hitchens
At that time Hitchens also proudly discovers that he had a Jewish grandmother . And that cements his loyalty to the agenda of Greater Israel in the Middle East . The Zionism he supported was , of course, Ayn Rand Zionism . The militant atheist Ayn Rand , author of " The Virtue of Selfishness ", thought that the resident Palestinians were inferior to the Jewish settlers in Israel.
As a democratic Christian socialist I observed how conceited and obnoxious were the Big Four celebrities of the New Atheism.
For any SOCIALIST movement the New Atheism is poison .
