What helps bourgeois ORDER is that the American ruling class has cultivated the most servile and docile " intellectual class " in human history . Hardly even a few public high school History teachers - or teachers of " respectable " Civics- have the audacity to give thinkers like Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotsky much attention ( even the works of Harvard professor Howard Zinn are scorned or BANNED ).
The working class is left to its own experience in capitalist society . They certainly know the truth about their own lives . But as George Orwell observed in " 1984 " they frequently lack all important general ideas. They do appreciate any and all " socialists " who bring some higher understanding to them. SANITY itself can depend on a true understanding of human social life.
