On the topic of loneliness in America one of the best books was published in 1970 : " The Pursuit of Loneliness : American Culture at the Breaking Point " by Philip Slater. The root of this sad misery ?
Slater's book is " a classic indictment of American individualism and isolationism. "
Yes, he too did not have a good word for American capitalism and imperialism ( A whole chapter on the criminal war in Vietnam ) .
