A most important election As a registered voter in the United States ( Rhode Island ) I agree that
we face a most consequential election. A large turn out invariably
favors the more democratic side of our bourgeois ” democracy “. There is
clearly a crisis of the two party system. The electorate is rejecting
the establishment presidential candidates. On the left Bernie Sanders is
calling for some sort of democratic socialist inspired ” political
revolution “. On the right Donald Trump is promoting extreme nationalism
: ” make America great again “.
How can any voters imagine hawkish Hillary- a cheer leader for Goldman Sachs- to be in the least anti-establishment ?
Spike Lee, the black film director ( ” X ” ) has just endorsed
Democrat Bernie Sanders for president in a South Carolina ad.
Hard to believe that the American voters -in such an
anti-establishment mood- can still revere the Supreme Court- which is
hardly independent of the American ruling class.
” Political revolution ” will certainly abolish the Supreme
Court. The very honorable YOUR HONORS will never outlaw capitalism.
Donald Trump seems right out of the pages of the Sinclair
Lewis novel about the rise of a fascist leader in America : ” It Can’t
Happen Here “. Islamophobia serves Trump in the same way that
anti-Semitism served Hitler in the Germany of the 1930s.
At times I wonder if the presidential election of 2016 will even happen- CANCELLED DUE TO POPULAR UNREST ?
