I respect and admire Noam Chomsky who correctly sizes up Bernie
Sanders as really just a New Deal liberal-not a " socialist ", not a
socialist in the radical tradition of Eugene V. Debs. Nevertheless, I
give critical support to Democrat Bernie Sanders at least in the
primaries. I support him as an anti-establishment Democrat.
But here Chomsky is telling independent progressive voters to embrace Hillary -even before Sanders advises them to do just that. So getting a Democrat-any Democrat?- elected president is a categorical moral imperative ? Just silence your political conscience ? Chomsky would reproach you even for NOT voting ?
I say NO, NO ! We are perfectly capable of breaking the rotten two party system. Here Ralph Nader still sounds more boldly radical than Noam Chomsky or my favorite Democrat, Bernie Sanders.
There must be an alternative to both abject compromise and fatuous left-wing sectarianism, the party line of self-appointed VANGUARDS of the coming socialist revolution.
But lately the sectarian left is sounding more honest. I can see Bernie Sanders- finally scorned by the Democratic Party establishment - forming an American Labor Party . Eugene V. Debs would approve of that.
