This is what the collapse of " communism " has done to Russia ? The ruined and hopeless youth are left with the opium of drugs like this horrid Krokodil or the opium of crackpot religious sects-imported from evangelical America ? So capitalism - an economic order that does not care about the millions it makes wretched -is now the preferred way of life in Mother Russia ?
If post Soviet Russia needs a " revival " of anything it is the human social conscience . Russia needs to rediscover socialist humanism or spiritual socialism. We must rescue these " People of the Abyss " . And secular socialism itself must respect the infinitely precious human soul.
We must all believe in the Resurrection of Life , hear the kind voice of Christ saying to each of the damned-in-this-world : " Lazarus come forth ". And beginning to rot , Friend of Jesus, Lazarus in the cold darkness of the tomb felt the warm, gentle, divine light on his face. Recalled to Life !
