Assume Rhode Island politicians are not all pathologically corrupt. They still must operate within a budget over-determined by the internal limitations of a single state. Any democratic socialist in America ( I am a critical supporter of Bernie Sanders ) will at least imagine a USA divided at most into a few economic regions- operating under the same laws. Rhode Island would be reduced to a rather large( still beloved ) neighborhood in the grander post-capitalist political structure. THAT would constitute a POLITICAL REVOLUTION. And no more un-democratic, anti-populist Electoral College. The majority rules !
Ultimately the same fate for the capitalist nation states : more porous borders -with an equilibrium of " world citizens " flowing across the old, artificial borders.
A GLOBALIZED WORLD BANK will send out entitlement and social security checks, and needed " welfare " checks. The " social surplus " will be rationally distributed -according to need. Nobody will be privately wealthy. Nobody will be publicly poor ( as are the homeless now ).
The former ONE PERCENT plutocracy will be entitled to WORLD STATE WELFARE. A GOOD LIFE for all .
