As a registered Democrat in Rhode Island-and a critical supporter of
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont- I just learned that Sanders is the
projected winner in New Hampshire. The only poll I am aware of has "
socialist " Bernie beating " pragmatic realist " Hillary with about 60
percent voter approval here in neighboring Rhode Island.
A democratic socialist myself, I think Sanders sounds a lot more like an FDR liberal than a radical socialist like Eugene V. Debs. I hope Sanders " political revolution " includes a saner, non-belligerent foreign policy. He might find inspiration for that in Debs' famous anti-war Canton Speech.
Robert Kennedy would have a favorite word for the economic inequality so obvious in America today : " unacceptable ".
Robert Reich - no socialist himself - makes the point in his book " Super-Capitalism " that this economic disorder is quite simply incompatible with popular democracy.
Senator Elizabet Warren talks in a desperate tone about " saving the middle class ". But Middle Class America is gone with the wind. The United States of America is not so " exceptional " after all.. Google the question : " Was Marx right ? " and think about the answers.
I commend Senator Bernie Sanders for detoxifying " democratic socialism ". Change is in the air and change is the law of life.The Moloch god of Wall St. is crashing to pieces. Only the Ayn Rand Republicans will weep for its fall - as Atlas shrugs .
