And you really have to be quite the obtuse scholar to see EQUALITY BEFORE THE LAW as an everyday reality for poor and working class citizens. I first heard of this " miracle " report on 630WPRO ( Providence , Rhode Island ) talk radio this morning . Coming from a Catholic family background myself I am hardly cynical of all " miracle " stories. But I also have great respect for LAW & ORDER in Nature as discovered by modern science. According to astrophysicists the greatest SOMETHING FROM NOTHING " miracle " was the BIG BANG , the universe itself . If it was the God of Christianity that made this happen , what else is possible ?
Nevertheless I smell a charlatan hoax here. With all the hunger and human misery on the planet today this strikes me a very shabby, paltry " miracle " . Why not multiply our " daily bread " in those long , depressing BREAD ( or CHEESE ) lines ? Recall the Gospel story- fact or fiction - where Good Jesus fed really hungry people. If it was a charlatan's trick, it was at least that of a COMPASSIONATE charlatan- not a shallow publicity seeker .

Wisdom on getting old
[ I'll soon be 67 and will share my thoughts on your question. Aging is inevitable if we keep having birthdays and, as for me, I like that I keep having birthdays. I recognize that my health could decline at some point and I may no longer look forward to more birthdays but until then…
Maintain a positive attitude. I'm not talking about a false glibness but a real gratitude for how far your body has taken you. Appreciate your body. Be really good to it. Treat it as your most precious asset as it's the only one you're going to get.
Take your body for regular walks. Appreciate what your eyes can see, your nose can smell, and your ears can hear. Wonder at the sun on your face or its warmth on your back. Watch the wind in the trees, listen for the sound of children's laughter.
Feed your body good food. Get rid of the junk food in your house. If you want brownies make them from scratch. Once you get used to making things for yourself you'll be disgusted by the taste of preservatives and additives in prepackaged food. Your digestive system, your heart and circulatory system will love you for it so much that you will be able to tell the difference.
Spend lots of time with your family, letting them know how much you love them. One of you won't be around before you're ready for it.
Cultivate your friends. Any old ones are always great for walks down memory lane including all the stupid things you've done. Laughter is such wonderful medicine. Look for opportunities to make new ones. Sit somewhere different in places you frequent Friend someone on Facebook and seek opportunities to meet in the real world—coffee in the morning or for a drink in the evening. Don't be fearful of going places alone. One of my best friends right now is someone I met four years ago sitting next to them at a bar where I'd gone for a glass of wine and to people watch.
Read—the news, a novel, a joke that you want to remember to tell someone. Reading takes you to places you've never been before. If you don't like one book, try another. Maybe you'll like biographies, history, suspense, romance, or science fiction. Reading exercises your brain and gives you topics and/or information to share with your family and friends. It will make you interested and interesting]

[Revolutionary socialists have been accused for many years of wanting to overthrow the US government by force and violence. When they accuse us of this, what they are really trying to do is to imply that we want to abolish capitalism with a minority, that we want to force the will of the minority on the majority. The opposite is the truth. We believe we can win a majority of the people in this country to support a change in the system. It will be necessary to make a revolution precisely because the ruling powers will not peacefully accept a majority rule which wants a basic change.
How can a revolution involving a majority of the people actually take place in the United States? This is the question I want to discuss today.
First of all, you have to have clear in your mind the meaning of the word “revolution”. Many people have a stereotyped picture of what a revolution is like. They say a revolution is when people come with guns, when they surround a fortress or take over a city. What they do is they confuse revolution with insurrection. Insurrection is just one stage of revolution. Revolution is a lot more. It’s a long process.
In a certain way you can make a parallel between revolution and pregnancy. In the very early stages of pregnancy, if just on empirical evidence you ask whether or not someone is pregnant, the answer will be no. However, with the use of science you can determine whether the person is pregnant very early. Later on it becomes evident for everybody to see.
The same thing is true of social revolution. In the early stages most people don’t see it. You always begin on the assumption that in every society that needs a revolution, the majority of the people don’t think it’s possible. This is most certainly true for the period in American history we are in right now. We’re in the early stages of the third American revolution. I say the third revolution because we’ve had two others — the revolution of 1776 and the civil war.]

Capitalist America cannot accommodate a relatively small proportion of the population ? Is there some character test that you fail in order to be judged unworthy of a civilized roof over your head ? Imprisoned criminals get more respect ! I recall a famous O 'Henry short story titled " The Cop and the Anthem ". The character, homeless " Soapy ," kept trying to get arrested ( in order to get through the long cold, New York City winter ) .

There was a more enlightened attitude toward child molesters in the late 50s and early 60s
It seems to me that there was a more humane enlightened attitude toward these pathetic seedy man child molesters back in the late 50s and early 60s . I recall reading about them in some " Science Digest " articles. At the time there were still functional state mental institutions. Today the threatened " neighbors " with the instigation of POLICE ALERTS and the sanctimonious mainstream news media seem to arouse a no-pity lynch mob atmosphere on these very disturbed souls.
On the outside of prison how can endless boredom ( try finding a job ? ) and fear of daily harassment help rehabilitate their minds ? I wonder what old Dr. Freud , the famous psychiatrist , thought about these cases of the incorrigible child molesters ? I doubt if he ever had an accused Catholic priest for a patient .
Like all normal human beings the convicted child molester needs to " get a life" - both inside and outside prison.
