Thank you Maria Puente of USA TODAY for a fine article on
the " tortured artist ", Vincent Van Gogh . As the popular song
bemoaned: this cruel world was not made for someone as beautiful
as you, Vincent.
Will the Van Gogh exhibit in Washington ,D.C. help us to transcend
the " unedifying spectacle of a presidential sex scandal " ?
Your front page picture of a Van Gogh masterpiece is a little
ironic in its suggestiveness : " The Bedroom " .
We might find it easier to " forgive " President Clinton if
we contemplate his thoughts on love and sex in a letter to his
brother Theo : " I can live without love. But I can not live
without sex.. Sex lubricates ! " .
Like Bill Clinton, Vincent Van Gogh had an intense " Lust
for Life ". That is often the driving force of true genius !
We just cannot escape " The Bedroom ".
