RIPTA to move away from paper fare products

  1. The management of RIPTA needs a crash course in manners and common sense. Do they realize how inconvenient is the new EXACT CHANGE rule for regular RIPTA riders ? And even the bus drivers themselves could brush up on manners : is it not rude to accelerate the bus while an elderly passenger carrying grocery baggage is trying to find a seat ?
And the darling of the mainstream news media in Rhode Island , now Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo ,was mean-spirited to senior citizens when she cancelled the FREE bus pass tradition . I found it very tedious to even re-apply for one . One day I showed up at their Elmwood Ave. RIPTA office with a cancelled SENIOR FREE PASS -but with an expired Rhode Island non-driver ID . The office people talked to me rudely and I was shown the door. Also, it is hard to re-new a RI -ID at a closed or APPOINTMENT ONLY RI DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES . Cannot the state make it easier for non-driver to obtain a valid Rhode Island ID ? This messed up even my so called RIGHT TO VOTE !
