The only obstacle to SOCIALISM is socialists
The problem for uncorrupted DEMOCRATIC socialism is that the " socialists " on display in the Democratic Party and its phony " socialist " support groups remind politically literate people of old STALINIST vices. In fact , even the few " Trotskyist " parties ( always anathematizing one another ) are infected with the Stalinist plague when they COLLUDE with " liberal " mainstream news media in condemning IMAGINARY anti-Semitism , when they too show contempt for the FREE SPEECH , FREE THOUGHT tradition of Western Civilization. Nowhere do working class people embrace smothering , soul-destroying TOTALITARIANISM . I can swear many so called Marxists relate to the obnoxious New Atheists more than they do to ordinary working class people. NO sectarian Marxist- Leninist-Trotskyist party has put down any roots in the working class . Too many snobby college students and semi-employed professors, seedy opportunist lawyers, and too many neurotic " socialist " Jews. Long ago George Orwell , who said that " socialism should be obvious ", joked about the " types " that join socialist organizations and political parties. They continue to make SOCIALISM little more than a desperate hope. My favorite Trotsky quote : " Truth is an orphan "
