These people are the saving grace of a future Israel - which can only be a secular democracy - in the sense that socialists give it- cleansed of any sense of national, ethnic, or racial superiority.
A country -like once Catholic Italy ( ruled by popes ) - can respect its ancient culture and religious roots or treat ALL religions with benign indifference- and without making atheism ludicrously OFFICIAL. This is the modern SECULAR state- even under bourgeois democracy.
The mainstream news media has marginalized Jewish intellectuals like the late Howard Zinn who could see the moral and political flaws of a belligerent Zionism allied with American imperialism and just on the wrong side of history.
The land that gave birth to monotheism ( did not ONE God imply ONE human race ? ) begins to resemble Apartheid South Africa .
