Downtown Providence homeless people -like scenes from " Les Miserables "

    I passed by a homeless older woman right across from 75 Fountain St. crouched on the stairs of an office building. She told me she did not want to go to any shelter. " You could freeze here " , I told her. The next morning this homeless woman - right out of " Les Miserables "- recognized me at the Kennedy Plaza bus station. Did I have a dollar for cigarettes ? Her " work " was cut out for her as cigarettes can cost much more.

As long as capitalist PRIVATE PROPERTY is sacrosanct we will be reading these sad stories. A democratic socialist government will deal with all the slum landlords with an iron fist. The wealthy will discover overnight that they don't OWN nearly as much as all that HARD WORK entitled them. They will experience the joys of equality-not persecution.
