As a democratic socialist I oppose this impeachment lynch mob trying to nullify the 2016 presidential election. But no politically literate student of American history will accept the official mythology of America.
The country was never in any absolute sense GOOD. Nor was it in any absolute sense EVIL. How could a horrible country like Saudi Arabia be our " ally " in a war against Evil ? How could Zionist Apartheid Israel ( which at least has SOME of the virtues of Western Civilization ) be our ally in a war against EVIL ?
Donald Trump himself is only " evil " to the degree that he represents American capitalism and imperialism in decay. Our plutocracy rejects the laws of history and superstitiously believes that it should be around forever- a lot richer in the year 3000 AD !
There has been no moral grandeur in our endless " war on terrorism ". Too many " collateral damage " incidents should interest the World Court.
Is there some virtue in just defending " civilization " - without which there is no justice anywhere on the planet ? Civilization can best be defended by CIVILIZED means.
We can begin with nuclear disarmament and " deconstructing " the entire US military establishment.
The American generals surrounding President Trump are not less stupid than the French and German generals who planned the " Horror of Verdun " more than 100 years ago.
Those mountains of dead soldiers' bones do not testify to any extraordinary Battle for Goodness. Just making the world safe for rich people.
