There is political mythology about the oh-so-liberal Clintons being
the great friends of ordinary black Americans.
The neo-Democrat Clintons- indeed most establishment Democrats today-betrayed the " liberal conscience " decades ago. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton abandoned whatever 60s idealism or " radicalism " they had in their mostly unprincipled climb up to heights of power in the White House.
The neo-Democrats have completely abandoned the solid pro-labor perspective of FDR's New Deal. Ironically only " socialist " Democrat Bernie Sanders is a relic of that time when working class voters could at least imagine they had " friends in high places "
Bernie Sanders focus on unacceptable economic inequality is morally superior to Hillary's -mostly hypocritical- focus on " identity politics ". And just what would Hillary Clinton do for working class women that Bernie's " political revolution " can't do ?
Political realism for the Clintons and the neo-Democrats means nothing more than accepting the Wall St. capitalism " way of life " -as if no other social or economic order is rational or even preferable.
What does ten thousand years of human history say about the permanence of any social order ? Even " democracy " must evolve.
