The job of COP in American capitalist society does attract not a few sociopathic brutes. To a degree it is just the nature of the work that attracts brutes ( as well as boy scout types ). It must make even the average , decent cop CYNICAL : daily defending the HAVES against the lawless HAVE NOTS . Was it crude for Karl Marx to think that the STATE itself is essentially an organization of armed men in the service of the PROPERTY class ? Later the Russian revolutionary leader , Vladimir Lenin ,elaborated on this idea in his 1917 circulating pamphlet titled " State and Revolution ".
