Imagine if- after " reparations " - Blacks in California were suddenly as rich as Jewish slumlords in New York City ?

As a longtime independent democratic socialist I think this talk about personal , individual " reparations " for the Black slavery of the long PAST is a delirious fantasy . The freed Blacks slaves quickly went from Deep South plantation slavery to the " enlightened " WAGE SLAVERY of the Northern capitalists. Written in 1844 Engels book " The Condition of the Working Class in England " vividly showed how the wage slavery of the poor Irish in Manchester , England , for example , absolutely rivaled Southern slavery in its horror and misery. No less than ancient slavery the modern capitalist system is based on the exploitation and oppression of the masses. Only a rational SOCIALIST economic system can begin to create fundamental human equality. Imagine if THEY ( the capitalist ruling class in California ) were serious about reparations for Black Americans . Overnight ordinary WORKING CLASS Black people would be as affluent as most Jewish landlords in New York City . Then the newly rich Blacks can patronize them and establish scholarships for their children - AFTER those billions of dollars of " reparations " are paid out .
