Manic gambling and BIG MONEY SPORTS and FALSE ADVERTISING are just a few of the diseases of decaying capitalism. A rational democratic socialist government in the USA would cancel all lottery winnings. And it certainly would not let Mega-Gambling make mega-millionaires ( just recently a billionaire ) out of so many would be chumps. . Social surplus value in the form of MONEY( as described in Marxist economics) would not be squandered in ways that mock the respectable work ethic of the masses. Gambling is just one more form of capitalist exploitation. Only the collective wisdom of humanity can best decide how to use accumulated wealth. The isolated individual entrepreneur is as dumb and clueless and amoral as the ballyhooed " FREE MARKET " . Even earnest liberals who believe in " socially responsible investments " are muddle headed political charlatans Don't expect much in social responsibility from Mega-Millions lottery winners. " GREED IS GOOD ! "- that's the ticket to Wall Street bliss even after the first billion. To be sure , sophisticated and cynical " consultants " will be as easy to find as unctuous grief counselors after a tragedy. And the hapless lottery winner will think : " It's times like these when you know who your friends are ! "
