A democratic socialist America would recognize that it has a vested FUTURE interest in the education , job skills , and critical thinking skills of the younger generation. If higher education were FREE we would have many more dedicated medical doctors, engineers, teachers, scientists. And life long FREE higher education would end the mental and physical slavery inseparable from the present capitalism based DIVISION OF LABOR. Too many BURNOUTS in present day USA ! Pity a proctologist for 40 years ! ( after 20 years he might be happier in general dentistry ) .
