Whenever an informed socialist mentions these " deeper " causes in on- line COMMENT sections he or she will confront this peculiarity of bourgeois thinking : the compartmentalization of different topics in the mind of the average well educated person in the United States. Often when I " connect the dots " and condemn the SYSTEM some right wing troll will view this as daffy " incoherence " even poor grammar.
What does a " sick society " have to do with the horror of these school shootings - which demands a despicable, tangible villain -like the NRA ?
This fragmentation of the human soul in capitalist society was observed more than a century ago. It is also related to the stupefying " division of labor " which the young Marx wrote about so thoughtfully.
The " division of labor " explains the tracking system in high school which puts working class kids " in their place " by the age of 16- not without seething resentment. Recall the Stephen King story " Rage ".
