Public school failures all boil down to CLASS inequality !

More than 20 years ago I recall spotting shelves full of books in local public libraries on the topic of the failure of American public schools . Often written by devoted but burnt out teachers with long frustrating experience teaching elementary school and high school in our big cities like Detroit , Boston, Chicago, New York. A book on the disaster nightmare of Providence , Rhode Island public schools will probably soon be published. It is just plain absurd to blame teacher unions for the deteriorating public school system. Why are kids in Barrington , Rhode Island, for example , guaranteed a better education than kids in Central Fall or Pawtucket ? Really it all boils down to CLASS inequality. For me a long time independent democratic socialist capitalism is failing on all fronts in " OUR democracy ". None of the " progressive " Democrats talk about public school failure, or even homelessness for that matter , with reference to the sociological BIG PICTURE. An Ivy League education cannot do this for the teaching profession ?
