I AM PROVIDENCE by S.T. Joshi S._T._Joshi – Wikipedia S.T. Joshi's Website |
My old friend Herb Marshall-friend of my old dear friend Ronald F. Marshall- just forwarded me your recent blog: "A few more delicate words on Laura Miller".
Once again you brilliantly defended HPL against the charge of pathological, malicious racism. I think H.L. Mencken could be perceived in the same kind light in this matter. You don't reject rare genius for notable character flaws.
You might recall the bunch of us together on Observatory Ave. in Providence back in the Year of Our Lord 1984? I offered you the comfort of my bed while I slept cozily on a cot.
Frequented by H.P. Lovecraft, The Ladd Observatory (1891)– located at 210 Doyle Avenue at Hope Street and Observatory Avenue –Brown University. |
Herb has improved in certain social habits since that
memorable time. I am still a SOCIALIST– but have no real quarrel with THE PRAYER ON THE WALL.
My best wishes to you! – Ron
Response from S.T. Joshi:
Ron-- Wonderful to hear from you after all these years! I of

the "Providence Pals." Glad you've enjoyed my blogs-- I am probably not
finished yet, as some of the things I've written appear to have
engendered a certain amount of controversy. I'm enjoying giving my
satirical skills a bit of practice.
One of these days I may write my "Lovecraftian Memoirs"--in which the Providence Pals will figure largely
