The " God Particle " is a vacuous substitute for God !

When SCIENCE , especially ASTROPHYSICS , begins to sound like twaddle " ? When " the high priests of the Big Bang " begin to sound like TV evangelists - but announcing the COMING of the GOD II Particle , beloved Son of the God I Particle . How long can brilliant fireworks in space, billions of light years away - possibly long dead galaxies never to be even tangent to our lives - mesmerize even the science literate public in our time ? If Saint Augustine could speak to us today , he might warn us that the " God Particle " is no substitute for God ! The masses will never find inspiration in the New Astrophysics anymore than in the New Atheism. No Gothic like cathedral will ever be erected over a protected sample of the " God Particle " ! What should be precious to us is HUMAN LIFE on this GOOD EARTH. Not get lost in a ecstatic LSD type vision of " what hydrogen atoms can do after billions of years of cosmic evolution ".
