As a longtime independent democratic socialist I think this REPARATIONS nonsense can only appeal to fundamentally ignorant but ambitious , PETTY BOURGOIS , social climbing ( especially via AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ) Black individuals. The kind you find SHOWTIME in Hollywood . What is fundamental since 1865 is what the white working class and the Black working class have in common : subjection to capitalist WAGE SLAVERY . A socialist revolution is not about REPARATIONS for centuries of EXPLOITATION and OPPRESSION of the working class. It is about establishing - hopefully by peaceful means - a more rational , more just SOCIALIST economic system . A system which will not confer millionaire status on ANYBODY whatever their stories of abused ancestors . WE THE PEOPLE will then inherit neither hopeless misery nor unearned wealth .
