All these stories-true or half-true-or false -read like scenes out of those 1950s paperback TRUE CRIME novels with the lurid covers. Did not Kinsey also report on the sexual behavior of PRIVILEGED upper class males ? Even in Dickens' "David Copperfield [ Sexual exploitation in the novels of Charles Dickens] there is an upper class sexual predator villain. Respectable " romance " and marriage does not fit into their hedonistic life style. In Theodore Dreiser's " American Tragedy " it culminates in a murder trial .
Is this not really a form of RULING CLASS sexual oppression ? It has nothing to do with generic " male privilege ".
However, in the present April 2018 time the ME TOO circus is making it impossible for any " celebrity " rich guy male to get a fair trial. Not Bill Cosby not Tom Brokaw. Not even Matt Lauer or Harvey Weinstein ( or the celebrity physicist Lawrence Krauss ) .
A radio report this morning mentioned that Linda Vester - in obvious self protection- identified herself as a Catholic when Brokaw made the creepy suggestion that the married woman could be his kept mistress.
True , in the mainstream news media the Catholic faith -even that of the late Tim Russert- seems only good for ridicule and contempt.
Linda Vester's story certainly sounds credible. But TIME wears it thin. And TIME past considered, Bill Cosby should be allowed to fade away at home.
