Rising rents: High demand, lack of supply, stagnant incomes add up to tough times for renters

 

People with no social imagination and no long view of history think that " free market " principles of everyday capitalism ( investing, buying , selling , renting, borrowing, hiring, firing ) are based on some eternal verities. But this capitalist economic system is as doomed as past economic systems which, of course, included pure slavery.

When democratic socialists call for RENT CONTROL or price freezes the gods of PRIVATE PROPERTY get nervous and grouchy: as if THEIR economic laws had the same validity as Newton's laws of motion in physics.

The " freedom " of CAPITAL has become incompatible with the dignity of most human beings on this planet. Don't tell the HAVE NOTS how wonderful capitalism is for them !

What keeps the homeless homeless ? Private property rights. The happiness of landlords is the misery of tenants.
