How American Religion Became More About Power Than Faith [ The late Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov were hard core HUMANISTS ]

The only time serious democratic socialists should get confrontation- critical of organized religions is when they fail grievously to live up to their own moral code inspired by holy scripture- like the New Testament . Again and again the ruling class of a country can corrupt the top leaders of the dominant Church . And then you have the pathetic sight of the ecclesiastic high and mighty blessing troops marching off to war as in the " Great War " that began on August 1914. As if God Almighty plays favorites with nation-states . Hardly any religion becomes a POWER in the world that has not compromised itself with a succession of ruling classes. After the long lasting Age of Faith the Catholic Church felt a definite revulsion for rising capitalist social order ( which better suited the Protestant Reformation ) . But whether preached by Protestants or Catholics , how can the Gospel of Jesus Christ ever be twisted into a force for EVIL in the world ? On the contrary, governments that declared themselves " officially atheist " ( like Stalin's Russia ) seemed capable of limitless crimes against humanity. I think the New Atheist Cult evangelism only adds the spirit of nihilism to the capitalist Culture of Narcissism. How do people find their moral compass in a perceived " Universe from Nothing " ? Just check out the news reports of sexually degenerate behavior of brand name scientists who add their celebrity voices to the sophomoric LOGIC & REASON of the New Atheism. And oddly enough, they have a definite right wing political agenda. There are NO democratic socialists among them. There ARE not a few libertarians, fascists, and Zionists and perhaps a few WOKE WARRIOR Democrats . The late Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov were exceptions: hard core old fashioned HUMANISTS . In our times SCIENCE has been profoundly corrupted !
