Inspired from youth by Albert Camus' sense of the Absurd, I try to be a voice for REASON in the growing darkness and moral insanity of global capitalism .

Charles Laughton & Marilyn Monroe - 'The Cop and the Anthem' ('Full House')
On my blog and on my Facebook page I have argued again and again that the homeless crisis in Rhode Island and in " OUR democracy " is on collision course with landlord-capitalist PRIVATE PROPERTY rights . THAT is why state officials year after year only pretend to be compassionately concerned with the plight of all these homeless people. The PROBLEM is this : no American politicians functional in the TWO PARTY SYSTEM can or will think outside the box of CAPITALISM. So well into the future the official message to the homeless will be : " MOVE ON ! " . But to where ? I am reminded of a famous O'Henry short story that was required reading in my 7th grade class : " The Cop and the Anthem " . A down and out character in the Big City named " Soapy " is haplessly trying to get himself arrested in order to be warm and well fed for the winter. Only after he has some vague religious impulse to REFORM himself does he feel the strong arm of the cop. SAVED !
