Only registered " failures " will fall for socialist ideals ?

@Greg Chase Apart from smug , egocentric , " successful " upper middle class Americans , the ideals of democratic socialism are both rational and real to millions of Americans. " As a Jew" you might benefit from reading Irving Howe's book - a New York Times favorite - " World Of Our Fathers ". True , many intellectual Jews gravitated toward radical Marxist philosophy as long as their memory of the harsh and cruel immigrant experience in the " Land of the Free "was still green. A socialist writer, Howe details the Jewish contribution to the socialist movement in the United States. Some Jewish intellectuals made the understandable mistake of idealizing the old Soviet Union under Stalin. Irving Howe himself, influenced by Leon Trotsky's book " The Revolution Betrayed ", sympathized with the anti-totalitarian Left to the end of his life . In " A Margin of Hope " Howe relates his political evolution since the tumultuous 1930s Great Depression Era. He remained a SOCIALIST. I don't think you need to be a registered " failure " to appreciate Marx's contribution to understanding the social mechanism of capitalist wage slavery, of capitalist exploitation and oppression. Way back in 1965 Black Muslim Malcolm X made a connection between racism and capitalism , between racism and imperialism . A very prominent American scholar-historian Professor Howard Zinn applied CRITICAL ECONOMIC THEORY in his famous textbook " A People's History of the United States ". Zinn was also highly critical of Zionism. It is rather odd that pro-Zionist public school teachers should be promoting CRITICAL RACE THEORY . Do they not apply it to Apartheid Israel ? Meanwhile BLACK LIVES MATTER groups in street demonstrations are waving the Palestinian flag. And SOCIALISM is now very much in the news , in the air and on the air. What good reason do thousands of homeless and jobless Americans -of all races and ethnic groups - have to love capitalism ? Naturally the ruling class thinks that a world in which THEY are on top is the best of all possible worlds.] 'Eviction tsunami': Millions face eviction as moratorium ends Saturday, experts say many in danger YOUTUBE.COM 'Eviction tsunami': Millions face eviction as moratorium ends Saturday, experts say many in danger With the federal eviction moratorium expiring over the weekend, some renters are worried they'll soon be without a place to live.
