Look slavery WORKED for the ancient slaves masters . For centuries now capitalism has worked for the capitalists -not for the wage slaves. The idea that any particular economic structure represents final wisdom is naïve. No more than the American Constitution ( as interpreted by liberal or conservative judges ) is the last word in political democracy .
Most working class people or middle class Americans in " free fall " do not see THE SYSTEM ( economic - political ) WORKING for them .
By the way, economic CLASS is so much more relevant to social misery problems today than silly " identity politics ". It would be very foolish for liberal Democrats to make RACE and imagined WHITE PRIVILEGE the big issue in the 2020 election.
