The Democrats have quickly degenerated into a neo-con War Party , the kind anti-imperialist author Mark Twain ridiculed more than a century ago in the Robber Baron Age .
No more " Onward Christian Soldiers " for the Democrats . The next Crusade will be strictly secular : A Bland Ayn Rand-Ayn Rand Lite- on a white horse !
No more wars on poverty for the once " liberal " elite. And don't expect a peep of " progressive " DISSENT from Ivy League Academia. No more tolerance for the rare Howard Zinns and seeing history from the point of view of the most oppressed.
Any hint of free speech and free thought only provokes Fear & Trembling among the learned professors today.. Above all they teach the ambitious middle class youth how to be subservient to the ruling class. Yes, WATCH WHAT YOU SAY , WATCH WHAT YOU THINK . Your beautiful career is also on line!
If you are a young IDEALIST and eager for adventure , how can you not resist enlisting in the U.S. military and making the world safe for plutocracy ? Check out the National Guard recruiting ads on radio and TV . They sound like old Peace Corps promotions .
But George Orwell is watching you !
