I am so sad to read about the passing of my old friend and neighbor ( Washington Park, Providence ) Frank Smith . I have been wondering about Frank for more than ten years now. We would often bump into each other in local libraries. I could get a free lecture from Frank on subjects of common interest.
A kind man Frank would loan me twenty dollars numerous times before pay day. For a while we worked together at Ogden Security.
Rest in peace ( heavenly or Lucretian ) my dear friend.
I will tell others about Frank's passing . He will certainly be fondly remembered.

SMITH , FRANCIS THOMAS
Of Whelden Ave., East Providence affectionately known to all as "Frank", 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 22, 2018, afternoon at the Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence, RI. Born in Jacksonville, FL he was the son of the late Frank T. and Mildred L. Smith.
Mr. Smith graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1951 and obtained a Master Degree from Howard Hughes in California. He was an Aeronautical Engineer with the Locheed Aerospace Company in Calabasas, CA for 20 years before retiring. Frank was an avid reader and enjoyed buying books for family and friends with the intent of getting them hooked on reading.
He is survived by three sisters Patricia Shakel of East Providence, Janet Quackenbush of Foster and Millie Anthony of Warwick, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James, Thomas, Norman and Charles Smith.
A celebration of life service will be celebrated Friday at 10 am in the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street Cranston, RI 02905. Calling hours from 9:15 am to 10 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park in Warwick. In Lieu of flowers donation may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care 1085 N. Main Street Providence, RI 02904. For additional information please visit www.jwsfh.com
