I live in Cranston, Rhode Island. The mayor is Republican Allan Fung, a Chinese American . My brother tells me that he remembers when young Allan Fung worked in the family's Chinese restaurant. Alan graduated from the esteemed Classical High School in Providence.
Just recently Mayor Fung , now a candidate for governor, was " caught " in some petty free-rent deal for his campaign office near Garden City .
True, he needed to do some explaining . But opponent Republican Patricia Morgan started a controversy when she said that if Fung kept digging for excuses, he would be " digging all the way to China ".
The Democratic governor Gina Raimondo already has 4 million dollars in her campaign war chest. Do you think these are all gifts from working class people here in need of small favors ?
Of course , neither Republican Fung nor Democrat Raimondo lose any sleep over working class " problems " - like not letting your family starve while applying for SNAP benefits.
