To be sure, this celebrity newsman is no Walter Cronkite. But the U.S. ruling class is not interested in HONESTY in the news coverage of our insane wars or HONESTY in reporting big business ethics scandals.
A while back I recall PrOJO columnist Froma Harrop getting a
little tired and bored and impatient with the J.D. Salinger's unforgettable character, young neurotic, middle class Holden Caulfield. Fans of "Catcher in the Rye" can never forget Holden's adolescent sensitivity to everyday PHONINESS. But that was back in the relatively honest post-war years.
What kind of Holden could we imagine in this Golden Age of Phoniness?
